Teddy Tours

by guera in Blogging, Kids on 24 January, 2008

Two blogs I’ve been following for a while and really admire are Imaginif and All for Women.

Megan (Imaginif) does an amazing job of raising awareness for protecting children from abuse and educating people about the dangers to look out for and how best to look out for our kids. I am in awe of her dedication and passion for her cause. I’ve never been directly affected by child abuse, but I think it is something that touches us all, whether on a personal level, as a concern for your children or just out of an interest in improving our society.

Leigh (All for Women) has developed a fantastic resource bringing women together on the internet. There’s a forum for women bloggers, she hosts the All Women Blogging Carnival and a list of the Top 50 Aussie Women Bloggers. Its a great community she has created there an there’s always interesting and informative things to read. I particularly like her Sisterhood of the Travelling Bra campaign to raise awareness for women’s issues. Click here if you want to see Megan and Sheila (the bra) in Cairns getting in on the fun Leigh created!

Megan and Leigh have recently joined forces and created a sistership between their two websites where they will work on projects together and exchange goodwill.

“Good business karma between women operating grass roots business models, costs nothing more than working together for the common good.” Imaginif

“A joining of our 2 sites and businesses in a combined effort to our greater goal.” All for Women

Their first joint project is the Teddy Tour website where survivors of child sexual assault send in their anonymous story tag for a teddy to wear in a tour around the blogosphere.

“This blogospheric Teddy Tour is a changing display of teddies each confidentially representing a real person (man, woman or child) affected by sexual assault / abuse. Teddies have long been a symbol of childhood. Teddies have long been patched up, thrown aside and pulled out when needed…much like the lives of many people affected by child sexual abuse.”

You should really go and have a look at their website, participate, comment or just support the great and inspiring thing they are doing.

We can only do what we do because of people like you that support and encourage us. Thank you so much Guera. It is your spreading of the Teddy Tour message that reaches women and children that we cannot. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Mxxx
