Picklebums
Kate from Picklebums is one my Pay it Forward winners - I finally found time to do my post about her blog. (Sorry it took so long, Kate :))
Picklebums is a recent discovery of mine, through the Aussie Bloggers Forum and it is such a gorgeous blog. Kate lives on “ten acres of weeds in ‘almost rural’ Victoria” with her family, including her twin girls and baby boy.
Kate is a former pre-school teacher and a digital scrapbook designer (over at Pickleberry Pop) which explains why her blog is so beautifully designed and why she’s got some great kids’ activities. Some of my favourite posts are:
- 2007 in review
- A New Kind of Fairy… (good for a giggle)
- Clever Clogs

Like Lightening in her pay it forward post about my blog, I decided to ask Kate some questions about her blog -
Firstly, why picklebums?
‘Picklebum’ is a term of endearment in our house. I am not sure when or how it first started, or where it came from but it can’t have been long after the girls were born that the phrase was first used and it has stuck. It’s great - it can be used to mean that you are silly, or cute, or funny, or beautiful, or simply that you are loved!
When did you first start blogging and why did you start?
I first started blogging at the end of 2005. I had known others who blogged for a good few years (I have a lot of nerdy friends) but always said it wasn’t for me… but then a lot of digital scrapbookers (I digi scrap and design digital scrapbooking items) started blogging about their hobby and I decided to jump on the bandwagon. Initially the blog was just going to be a way to promote my design work but it took about two posts before it morphed into an outlet for my crazy life!
What is your favourite blog post you’ve ever written and why?
Ah that is such a hard question! I love lots of them for different reasons… I love this one about memories of my Nan, and this one because it conveys how crazy life is with my kids and this one because it makes me smile… Is that cheating to list three???
Do you have a favourite blog post that you’ve read on another blog?
Hmm I am not sure I can narrow it down to just one all time favourite post… but at the moment I am loving all the posts at six one way they are simple beautiful and inspiring.
What is your favourite thing about blogging?
My favourite thing about blogging is that I can share ’stuff’. I don’t have to be the best writer in the world or have the most interesting things to say. I can share bits and pieces, thoughts and ideas with all kinds of different people. Plus the more I share the more I seem to learn… my brain has expanded a LOT since I started blogging!

Picklebums is high up on my must read list, and definitely worth a visit.
Tell Kate I said Hi!
