Turning One Again

This weekend we held a little family birthday party for Chiq now that we’re all in the same place. Even Rocky’s sister who lives in England is back in town at the moment. It’s not often that he and his 3 sisters are all in the one place and it’s only the third time ever that the older siblings and his teenage half brother and sister have ever been together all at once. It was good timing for his sister and us to coincide our trips back home.

My brother and sister-in-law kindly offered their place for the venue which was perfect since it was hot and they have a pool. Guerita was ecstatic because she got to have a sleepover with her cousins (7 year old twins) and spend the whole day with them. She told me they are her bestest friends and she was distraught when we finally had to leave, crying all the way home how much she loves them and misses them. At moments like these we have a few doubts about being away from home. We often worry that we are depriving the kids of regular contact with family, but at least I am heartened by the fact that they are still so close, even though we don’t see them all the time.

It’s so nice to be home and be able to buy all the easy and familiar things for a party, have great weather to enjoy it and lots of willing hands to help entertain the kids…
