Guest Posting

by guera in Expat Life on 17 February, 2008

I have signed up for a few guest posts on other people’s blogs lately, and my first article appears today over at Neerav’s Road Less Travelled Blog.

My post is about living in Saudi Arabia in 2002-2003. It was a pretty interesting time to live there, not long after 9/11 and for the beginning of the Iraq war. Guerita was born there, which is a whole other post on what it’s like to give birth in a Muslim country! I haven’t written much about it here on my blog because I didn’t start blogging until we were already in Mexico and that’s been more of a focus.

So, if you’re interested in reading a bit about our life in “The Magic Kingdom”, head over to Neerav’s blog and check it out. You should head over there anyway, there’s some great posts there from Neerav and from his other guest bloggers with their interesting travel stories from The Road Less Travelled.

I went and had a read. Awesome article. I hope you do write some more about your experiences there. I find other cultures absolutely fascinating (from a distance ;) ).

Great article. It reminded me of the stories my Scottish cousin told of her time being a nurse to one of the royal families there. Interesting society from afar. No interest in visiting.

Thanks, all!

Lightening - that’s one of the things I love about blogs too - a bit of armchair travel! I’m thinking I’ll do a few more “looking back” posts soon - just to cover some of my pre-blogging days.

Neerav - that’s pretty good! I’m flattered that you called me “señorita” which means YOUNG lady (and unmarried), unfortunately it’s more correct to say “señora” which sounds very matronly to me! Anyway, my response is “De Nada, Señor” (You’re welcome, sir)

Lulu - I loved your guest post on Snos’ blog and all your tales of Japan on your blog. I haven’t been there, but would love to.

Colin - yep, interesting is a good euphemism for Saudi - challenging is another one. Working for the royal family would be extremely challenging I think.
