Crappy Birthday to Me
Yep, today is my birthday. Fantastic timing isn’t it?
Today I’m officially closer to 40 than 30. Not something I really want to focus on right now.
It’s just gone midnight here so I’ve only had a few minutes of my birthday - I can’t say I really know what the day will hold. Needless to say, I don’t really have much celebrating planned. Some quality time with my kids is enough.
There are a few little presents upstairs waiting for me though - ones that travelled back from Perth with us in February and have been sitting in the wardrobe for months. I have amazingly resisted the urge to poke and prod and peek.
And I can’t forget the early birthday present I got with some money from my parents - my beautiful, gorgeous camera (AKA my third child). I need to do a post with photos again soon, all these wordy ones are so depressing!
Also, I have a guest post up over at Aussie Bloggers today - not a birthday post, just a few thoughts about going home. I’m a moderator at the forum over there and with everything that’s been going on here recently, I thought it would be best if I stepped down from that role. I felt guilty that I wasn’t pulling my weight because I wasn’t up to devoting any time to the forum or able to focus on much of anything. I didn’t want to be deadweight. But they are such a kind bunch of people , and when they asked me to reconsider, I was touched. It wasn’t something I wanted to lose and its probably a good thing for me to re-focus on the things I want. So, I agreed to stay on and felt a renewed energy to contribute and fulfil my duties. Hence the guest post, which I hope you enjoy, if you make your way over there.

You are exactly right - focusing on the things you enjoy and the things you want to be a part of is one of the best ways out of troubled times.
And we’re glad you stayed on as a moderator. 
You are bright and charming and talented and creative so I think by next birthday things will be different. You will find happiness again you just have to believe it and believe in yourself and of courseI bet that’s really hard right now when someone has hurt you like he has.
I´m sorry you have to be here for such a crappy birthday though. That must be very hard.
