Things I could do without

I could really do without:

  • the endless cycle of head lice treatment. There is nothing more frustrating than the shampooing/treating/conditioning followed by fine tooth combing plus washing every sheet in the house routine – repeat ad nauseum
  • finally getting rid of the little buggers, only to find that someone else in the class has them and has given them back to us (or the alternative is that we never got rid them – either way it sucks)
  • feeling like the worst hillbilly mother in the world when your youngest gets sent home from daycare because she has lice!
  • spending 2 hours painstakingly going through your kids’ hair, picking the lice out (knowing you’ll have to the same thing every day for a week)
  • not getting any work done (when the to do list is a mile long) because you lost your child free day

and while I’m on a whinge roll…

  • having to buy a new 1TB External Hard Drive because the one you had (that you use to back up all the photos and the work files) got dropped on the floor by a junior member of the family and now doesn’t read and makes a funny noise
  • spending what work time you did have trying to fix the chain of problems that seem to have arisen on the computer after using the new EHD to create a backup – including trying to recover all your emails

*sigh*

Sorry, whinge over.

we are all allowed to whinge sometimes. If you don’t get it off your chest you’ll explode – and that would be ugly. Hope you get the EHD sorted out and the emails etc.

Apparently they hate tee tree oil so if you put some (a couple of drops) in a spray bottle of water, and spray in their hair every day it hopefully prevents them coming back. Once you get rid of them all of course. Groan. Oh and plaiting hair so that it isn’t “flying” around as much. And do they have their own hat for school or do they share if they can’t find one or something similar.

I’d be whinging too if I was you. Losing that child free day kills me!
Hope you get your EHD issues sorted quickly. Have a fab weekend :)

What a frustrating time! Our school has implemented head lice checks each term and it has done wonders for reducing the infections at the school.

My hair dresser told me the most important thing is to keep treating for 4 weeks AFTER you think you have gotten rid of them so that you break the breeding cycle. Though at one stage I gave up and just treated their hair every week regardless.

Hope it settles for you soon and you get your pc sorted :)

we have the head biter issues too … but i have boys so a close shave helps …. also I understand the lice cannot live more that 2 inches away from a hot head heat source for any length of time – ie four hours – so as long as there is a gap of four hours plus, you don’t have to wash bed sheets etc .. I have found this to be true.

Good luck with fighting the good fight and if you wanna take heart head lice like clean hair the most – so your girls must be ultra fresh like a daisy :) le

Ugh, I hate head lice. I would be lamenting bitterly if it were me.
We had a year there where we just could not rid ourselves of the little bug(ger)s and it was almost the death of me: death by frustration.

Hope they take a hike really soon.

oh hun! head lice just suck! I am so glad I have boys when we get headlice … we shave their heads! LOL When we first got headlice I did all the treatments, combing etc, but we too just reinfested. They are happy to have it done, so it works well! Hope you have managed to keep them at bay now!
